Atlas Aspect Snowshoe – In for review

Posted in Gear Reviews, Outdoor Gear by Adam Buchanan - 02.27.2011

Atlas has come out with the Aspect which is a 3/4 rigid and 1/4 traditional tubing design. The trimmed down intense snowshoe is said to be preferred by Rainier climbers instead of crampons. Add some telemark ski holder rubber straps for a harness and you have the ultimate access tool for winter hiking.

I got to meet with one of the engineers for the Aspect and he said this model is nothing like the industry has seen before. I’m excited to give these things a try next week and hopefully hang up my crampons in my office to be used for Ouray only. Just a quick note on footwear for the Aspect, I’m going to try my Scarpa Epics and possibly my Keen Targhees if I can retrieve from the thrift store I just donated them to.

While you wait for the Aspect to hit stores, check out Atlas snowshoes on gear.com.

I love Atlas — what Perry Klebahn did to revolutionize the sport of snowshoeing when he invented the modern snowshoe continues to be evidenced in what Atlas does even after he sold it.
