Summer Running with New Balance
Most people know or recognize the name “New Balance” and associate it with running shoes. While the New Balance focus has largely remained on road running, over the past several years they have been making long strides in the trail running market. What used to be a token shoe or two for trail is now a solid line-up of trail shoe offerings. I had the opportunity to run with run with New Balance, head-to-toe this past summer and here’s what I thought. New Balance 110v2 Trail Running Shoes The New Balance 110v2 Trail Running Shoes rank high in my book. Overall it’s a more neutral shoe than your typical trail shoe. With the 110v2 New Balance has found a balance (no pun intended!) between minimalist shoes and your typical trail shoe. The 110v2 features 4mm of drop with a nice bed of REVlite foam. I found this combo to be great for longer runs or runs with a lot of vertical descent or rocky runs. One of the hardest things to overcome, I’ve found, with minimalist shoes is foot fatigue over long miles or rocky terrain. Didn’t really come across this with the 110v2. The uppers feature a combination of mesh and synthetic covering providing great breathability. I found the synthetic overlay adds a lot of durability to the shoe and some additional protection.
