For Fall 2007, Merrell introduces a strong line of outdoor-specific clothing that is both functional and good looking. Not directly aimed at hard-core backcountry pursuits, Merrell is carving out a niche in the functional and style market for outdoor apparel.
I just got my hands on a new Merrell merino wool long-sleeve sweater/shirt called the Merrell Merino Scoop. It looks great and fits great overall. The merino wool is soft to the skin and should prove to be either a nice base layer or even an outer layer on warmer days. The construction looks to be solid and overall fit is pretty good overall–except for a bit of extra bulk under the armpits.
I’m excited to use the Merino Scoop on cool summer evenings in the mountains and as a base layer as the days get cooler here in Utah. Here’s a few features of the Merrell Merino Scoop shirt:
- 100% sustainable merino wool
- Nature’s “second skin” moves moisture away from the skin for complete comfort
- Built-in thermal regulation offers warmth in varying conditions
- Active fit for use alone or under a shell
The entire Merrell Apparel line looks great for Fall 2007. Look for it at a retailer near you, or check out www.Merrell.com for more information soon.

Awesome — I didn’t know about this line of merino wool items. I think it’s a great alternative if you don’t want a synthetic, and as more companies make their versions in merino then we gear-fanatics get more options.

Ibex is the best, period. Once you get past the price, it’s all good. the products last longer than synthetics, don’t smell, look ten times better…what’s not to like?
