Product Descriptions
REI Description: Seeking elevation? The Atlas 1235 snowshoes provide traction, flotation and ease-of-use for wandering off the beaten paths and adventuring about in mountain terrain. 7075 aluminum frame is the lightest and strongest Atlas offers, providing a dependable platform for superb suspension response and an easy stride. Spring-Loaded(TM) Suspension (SLS) uses offset webbing straps to create a springy platform beneath the foot that absorbs impact and allows natural side-to-side foot flex. Wrapp(TM) Pro bindings use low-friction ratcheting buckles, silicone straps and a free-floating, padded tongue to supply a precise, comfortable and supportive fit. Lightweight Duratek(TM) nylon decks are super-tough and built to withstand harsh, cold conditions; textured surface helps resist abrasion. Stainless-steel instep crampons with shovellike front prongs and sharp end points bite into the iciest of slopes. Stainless-steel heel cleats and side traction rails increase traction while traversing and descending for sure footing on mountainous terrain. Heel lift bars on the Atlas 1235 snowshoes relieve calf muscle fatigue while ascending steep slopes; bar stores flat when disengaged. Recommended load specification includes weight of hiker with gear.

Eastern Mountain Sports Description: Taking an amazing set of features and adding a lighter and stronger frame make the Atlas 1230 prime choice for mountain trips where weight is a priority. Variable-forming 7075 aluminum frame changes from cylindrical to elliptical to increase strength and stiffness for a more responsive snowshoe. Spring-Loaded Suspension keeps the snowshoe close underfoot for easy maneuvering and suspends your foot so it can move freely with its intended articulation. Suspension absorbs impact and lets your foot flex naturally side-to-side for a comfortable, stable position on traverses and uneven terrain. Suspension enhances traction control, too, as the flex provides deeper crampon penetration into the slope, especially on steep or off-angle terrain. On steep climbs, the heel lift bar reduces calf fatigue while allowing the heel crampon to remain active. Aluminum V-frame produces an efficient, natural stride. V-shape tracks straight in deep snow. The ultimate tool for long winter excursions, the Tubbs Journey is value-packed, comfortable, and easy to use. Turned-up tail rolls easily into each step for a natural gait. Flexible Duratek decking is forgiving and quiet when hiking in the cold, providing durability without the weight. Wrapp Pro Binding offers top notch. One pull on the binding handle snugs the entire binding around your instep, toe and heel. SureClick urethane buckle snaps positively and holds your heel securely. Stainless steel All-Trac toe crampon provides traction in all directions. Wider traction tabs on the sides and corners complement sharp front and rear points for confident hiking. The sharp ridges on the side rails augment the downhill function of the heel cleat, running parallel to the snowshoe frame for solid footing, even on firm side hill terrain.

Backcountry Description: Whether you're heading up a Search and Rescue crew or you just like to get lost in an occasional whiteout, the Atlas 12 Series Snowshoe is ready to serve as your go-to big-mountain foot gear. The 12 series offers a variety of features oriented towards steeper and deeper treks so you stay on top of the snow and on top of your game.

The Atlas snowshoes are simply the best. They are QUIET vs the MSRs which are LOUD. The heel lever makes going uphill just like climbing a set of stairs and really saves your calf muscles. You can walk backwards in these too because of the way the binding is set. Where you see the SLS in grey on the left and right of the binding - this acts as a spring so that the back of the snowshoe pops back up. Its a big deal. Crampons on the bottom work really well for snow and glacier travel. If you ever run across ice however... have you ice axe at the ready and don't loose your balance. They wont purchase as well standard crampons, but its not likely that most people will ever encounter that situation. I also heard that the British SAS use these. They are agile, light, and durable. Looking forward to many more years with these. Going on two years of heavy use.

Great SNOWSHOES

Atlas is by far one of the most rugged and well made snowshoes on the market. I have had numerous days afield and in various conditions and these things worked like a dream. been very happy with the gear and very comfortable.
