Product Descriptions
REI Description: Riser Blocks' unique three-level design lets you pick a height for your front tire that is most comfortable for you. Stack two blocks to simulate climbing workouts; two blocks offer a dozen different adjustment levels. Injection-molded riser block is virtually indestructible; solid design stabilizes your front tire to give you confidence for a hard cranking session. Train harder and longer in a more natural position.

Backcountry Description: The Climbing Block levels and stabilizes your front wheel as you do a workout on your indoor trainer. What's unique about the Climbing Block, though, is that you can rotate it to set your wheel higher than your trainer, thereby increasing the level of difficulty of your workout. The goal here, of course, is to more accurately simulate climbing. You can rotate the climbing block in any of three positions to increase the steepness of your "climb", you can also purchase two Climbing Blocks and stack them on top of each other if you'd like to replicate climbing the really steep Manayunk Wall and Kemmelberg-type stuff. With the use of two blocks, you'll end up with 9 different levels of steepness to choose from. The injection molded construction is virtually indestructible. You can count on many long winter nights in front of the TV riding like a madman thanks to its superb durability.

Does the job

This simple riser block offers great stability and several wheel heights. Perfect match for the CycleOps trainers.

Great riser, lots of options

This is the most versatile riser block I've used with my Kurt Kinetic Road Machine trainer. The lowest channel in the CycleOps riser block leaves the bike sitting level. The other two channels give slight inclines. There are 3 different ways to use 2 blocks together if you want a plethora of steeper inclines to choose from. You can nest/spoon them together, stack them offset as in the photo, or stack them with the bases interlocked together (bottom one upside-down, top one right-side-up) to simulate the really steep climbs. Pretty smart design, I think. I like the way this riser block cradles the front tire. You know riding the trainer is going to wear your rear tire, but why should the front tire take any abuse? This is one of the reasons I chose the CycleOps over the Kurt riser ring, which looked like it might abrade the front tire after a winter of spinning. I'd give it a 5th star if it were a little cheaper.
