The secret to its versatility is the Gore Windstopper Soft Shell fabric. In a world of purpose specific clothing, it's nice to know that you could have something that performs great on the bike and lets you blend in with the civilians when you're afoot. It's looser fitting than the Xenon SO Jacket, but doesn't flap in the breeze -- Gore still considers it a slim fit garment. The Soft Shell stretches and moves with your body so even if you layer underneath it, you won't feel bound by the fabric. The sleeves are pre-articulated to accommodate a natural, relaxed bend at the elbows, and the tall collar has an ergonomic design with a captured drawcord that can be adjusted in or out with one hand.Due to the effectiveness of the Windstopper membrane, the folks at Gore have included some zippered vents under the arms to give you the ability to moderate your temperature. Perhaps the only details that give the Tool Jacket away as a cycling piece are the standard three pockets on the back. The outer two are angled down towards the outsides for easier access to your stash. And a zippered fourth pocket is semi-hidden on the middle pocket. It provides secure storage for credit cards or keys that you wouldn't want to jiggle out mid-ride. There's also a zippered Napoleon pocket on the left breast. The Gore Tool Jacket is available in Black/black, Golden Green/black, and Red/black and comes in five sizes from Small to XX-Large. The tail is cut a tad longer to accommodate your position on the bike, and the lower hem and sleeve cuffs are bound with a simple and comfortable Lycra band. Reflective elements on the shoulders, back, and forearms will help keep you visible to motorists in low light situations.
