EVA midsoles feature foam that is 30% softer than traditional running shoe foam, and 2.5 times more voluminous; this extra cushioning dissipates shock from heel striking. Midsoles allow for as much as 20mm of compression in the heel. 4mm heel-to-toe drop and rockered profile create a rolling motion that encourages proper forward motion. Wide outsole platforms on the Hoka One One Stinson Evo trail-running shoes provide a stable base. Hoka One One Stinson B Evo Review
After reading a number of reviews that, for the most part, seemed too good to be true, I finally parted ways with my cash and bought these shoes. Between my trail runs and road runs, I always seemed to need an extra day of recovery, just from the overall soreness in my legs, my left hip and my feet. After running in these for 3 weeks, about 6-7 trail runs, I ordered the Bondi B road shoes. Needless to say, they had made quite an impression on me. The cushioning takes the majority of the impact. The shoe fit is good for me and I have hard to fit feet. I expected to have trouble with the thick soles just clearing rocks and roots on my trail runs, but that hasn't been a problem as the shoes are deceptively light. Now I am running in these for my trail runs 2-3 days/week and the Bondi B for my road runs, 3-4 days/week and my legs, my feet and that sore left hip all are pain free. Yes, they are expensive, but I'll trade the pain and soreness for the extra $65 in shoe cost anytime.
