Good overall Mountain Boots |
These boots have the stiff soles of the old style mountain boots. They work well for most mountaneering use up to very steep ice. I used them on San Gorgonio with crampons for about 8 miles. I used the french technique on steeper areas as front pointing wasn't necessary. My feet stayed dry and warm with no hot spots without any break in. They fit my wide feet wonderfully. Best boots of this type I have ever owned. They edge or jam well in rock. The sole sticks to the snow and ice better than other boots of this type. Good boots for Glacier travel. I plan to use these on Mt Ranier this summer. I'll add more as I use them more.

Finally a boot I can wear |
I bought these boots with the hope I could be on my feet more outdoors. I broke my left foot in the Army and had surgery on the achilles region. I have feet pain all the time from screwing my feet up. These boots have amazing support in the achilles/ankles. The color through me off a little bit but they grow on me more and more everyday. The inserts I didn't find good, but I have special inserts made to my feet anyway. I recommend anyone to have inserts made to contour their feet anyway. Helps prevent injuries.I can be on my feet all day without the pain I had. Also they fit to size as well. I love Montrail helium!
