Product Descriptions
REI Description: The MSR WindPro(TM) II backpacking stove maintains the efficiency and versatility of the original WindPro while adding the ability to burn inverted fuel canisters for cold-weather performance. Easy to operate-no priming, pre-heating or pressurizing is necessary; attach an isobutane-propane canister and start cooking (canister not included). Includes a stand for inverting isobutane-propane canisters for better cold weather performance and more consistent output over the life of each canister. At only 6.6 oz., the WindPro II is the lightest remote canister stove on the market. Wide burner head evenly distributes the flame for scorch-free cooking. Includes windscreen and heat reflector for increased operating performance; windscreen is designed to accommodate cookware up to 10 in. in diameter. 3 legs/pot supports fan out to form a stable 6 in. cooking surface; folds for compact storage. Flame is easily adjusted from a steady simmer to a full boil; long fuel line keeps control valve well away from the flame. MSR WindPro II stove is totally field maintainable; every stove part is designed to be taken apart and easily replaced in the field. Weight includes stove, not the canister. Due to flammable item shipping restrictions, we cannot sell fuel canisters online; they are available at REI retail stores.

Eastern Mountain Sports Description: The MSR WindPro II features incredible efficiency for quicker boil times and improved cold weather performance. Inverted canister allows a consistent feed of liquid fuel to the stove. The fuel line runs through the burner turning the liquid to gas for a highly efficient burn. Remote burner allows use of a windscreen (included) for increased flame protection. Superlight remote canister stove at just 6.6 oz (187 g). Stable design supports pots up to 10 in. in diameter. Small enough to fit into a 1 liter pot.

Backcountry Description: The MSR Wind Pro II Stove is a dream-come-true the fast-and-light weight weenie crowd. The simple, durable Wind Pro II weighs and incredible 6.6 ounces, so you won't even know you're carrying it until it's dinner time.

another great MSR product

I purchased this stove from a competitor simply because it was out of stock and have been impressed with it so far. It's an improved version of the windpro with a longer fuel line and a swivel that allows it to run with the canister inverted in a liquid feed mode. Supposedly this helps with cold weather performance. I ran it against my other MSR stoves to try to get a comparison of cold weather performance before i take it out with the scouts in the snow. I put each stove and fuel bottle in the freezer (0F) for 2 hours and timed the boil on a full nalgene of cold tap water in a 1.8liter GSI pinnacle dualist potwind pro 2 8:50whisperlite international 3:45dragonfly 4:50pocket rocket 11 minutesOf course the white gas stoves were by far the fastest but i was still impressed with the butane canisters. The liquid feed mode of the WP2 seemed to make a significant difference with a cold canister and the flame was noticeably stronger once inverted. I expected the dragonfly to do better compared to the whisperlite but i suspect its simply a matter of more effective flame dispersion over the narrow pot being used and the pot being closer to the flame on the whisperlite. Results may be different with the MSR alpine set.For the weight and packability advantage as well as ease of use I'll be trying out the windpro 2 in colder weather this year. Certainly not the best winter stove i own but it's peaked my interest for sure. Great stuff from MSR. I know they have their detractors but i've had nothing but good luck with all of their products and the WP2 looks to be no exception.
