Product Descriptions
Backcountry Description: For those of us that aren't skate skiing for medals and glory, race-oriented rigidity isn't worth the sacrifice to comfort. So, if you're more inclined to squeeze in some hot laps before work, or get out with your family on the weekends, Rossignol created its X8 Skate Boot for you. This boot provides the necessary levels of stiffness required for a direct power transfer, but not so much that your foot feels berated at the end of the day. So, if you haven't guessed yet, comfort is paramount for the X8. And along these lines, Rossignol incorporated many of the key features from its X10 and even X-ium series. You receive the same mobile cuff system for fore and aft movements, a speed lace lock for rapid closure and a precise fit, and even a thermo-moldable upper for a customizable volume and fit. In fact, feature for feature, the similarities outweigh the differences between the X10 and X8 boots. We found the main difference to be the substitution of Rossignol's Micrometric ratcheting ankle closure for the X8's Velcro closure. However, the lack of hardware does shave the X8's weight to around 30 grams less per boot than the X10. This design also provides a more natural, less-constrictive movement for a simplified kick motion.

   Retailer Reviews

These boots run small and narrow, if you take a European size 40 in regular shoes, order a 42. The inner boot slides down easily when putting them on, so putting them on is a pain. Rossignol should have sewn a tab to pull them up when your sliding them on. They ski ok, even work for classic skiing.
