I used a Black Diamond mid on an extended trip into the Bob Marshall Wilderness this past winter (2010) and loved it. I found an Origami 4 on closeout and set out for the high country. Upon initial set up I noticed the tarp material was nowhere as robust as the B.D.(two sided?), but it is made of ripstop material and fully seam sealed. My major disappointment in the Origami was in the center pole that only has 2 fixed height settings. B.D. has a sliding ring, which allows for far more options. The B.D. pole appears to be stronger as well. Additionally I purchased the floor which is made of heavier material and is fully seam sealed. The snaps that fasten the floor to the tarp are on the flimsy side, although they functioned perfectly. I am happy with my Origami 4, but wish I had spent more for the Black Diamond. Pyramid deigns are so versatile in set-up, great at shedding snow and pack light. I love em.
