My wife bought this for me a few months ago as I am a gear junkie and just had to have it. Now that I've had it for awhile, I really don't value it any more than my $40 Timex Ironman watch...and often times I prefer the Timex. Its got a plethora of functions which make it complicated to use unless you use the functions all the time. The few times I've used the extra functions, it usually takes me a while to remember how to operate the function. What's worse is that the function often needs recalibrated when I decide to use it (i.e. compass and altimeter). Additionally, for most people, this will just be an additional gadget that does the same thing as your other gadgets, but with less accuracy. When I hike into the backcountry, I always bring a topo map, a GPS, and a compass. There will never be a situation where I will use the data displayed on this watch when I have the other three information sources. Most often, this watch serves as a playtoy in which I sometimes check the accuracy of it just because. For example, I summit a mountain and I glance down at my watch to see if it shows the correct altitude. Sometimes its right on...sometimes off by 500+ feet. My GPS is generally much more accurate and my topo map is always right on. Why do I really need this watch?
