Altrec Description: Whether you're gone for a week or a season, The North Face Dome 5 Tent is the ideal expedition design for serious mountaineering and guiding. From top to bottom, The North Face recently updated the design with a lighter and more stable architecture. At the top you'll find a ring-shaped aluminum hub that helps eliminate unnecessary pole sections and reduces the overall tent weight without sacrificing stability. There's also an upper level vent that applies a new lift technology that helps the tent work with the wind instead of being knocked around. Despite the reduced weight, the Dome 5 still offers alpine extras like snow flaps along the base and hanger hooks for storing the canopy. Like many of the best designed mountaineering tents, the Dome 5 has an integrated polyurethane view window that's cold tested to -60F so you can check on the weather without compromising any of the warmth inside the tent. The guy-out points are numerous enough to weather big blows and the No-Stretch Kevlar guylines with camming adjustments are ideal for pitching in open spaces. Plenty of internal pockets along the walls make it easy for everyone to find a place for stowing their essentials, with easy access even after the last candle lantern flickers out.
Backcountry Description: The North Face Dome 5 Tent 4-Season tent provides a safe haven for you and your four climbing partners during the worst Alaskan or Himalayan base camp storms. The incredibly strong 10-pole design withstands horrendous winds, and you can pile snow on the perimeter skirt to keep any air from getting under the Dome 5 Tent and turning it into a kite. A massive vestibule provides a place to stash gear so you don't have to pile it into the interior. The crew at The North Face knows that you need all the space you can get for marathon card games while you wait for good climbing weather.
