This adapter does what it's supposed to. If you have roof racks on a short roof, like I have on my Honda Civic, this is worth the investment. It widened the spread of my load bars to around 27 and added a significant amount of stability to my bike carriers. The best part was that these went on sale a few days after I received them, and Backcountry gladly credited me the price adjustment.
