Men's Stormline Stretch Rain Shell

"I just got back from a great desert weekend in Utah self-supporting in my kayak down a beauty river. I needed to pack light because everything fits behind the seat in drybags. This jacket balls up into practically nothing and is exactly what I'm looking for. The craftsmanship is quality and it's extremely lightweight."

EMPLOYEE REVIEW: I'm 6' 160 lbs and the small fits me in torso and sleeve length, but ends up feeling a little tight in the shoulders. I'd probably go for the medium, which has room for layering. I love the Captain color, and my second favorite is probably Picante. This would be my go to rain shell for 3-season backpacking trips, particularly spring and late fall when the weather can go from winter to summer and back in a day. This jacket gives room to layer up, and the pit zips allow for quick cooling. For my shorter more predictable urban commute I'd prefer the Black Diamond Fineline Rain Shell, which has a trimmer fit.

GEAR EDITOR: The Stormline is the top end of Black Diamond's rainwear, with hand pockets and velcro wrist cuffs. It has breathable stretch fabric just like the other BD stretch rainwear, but also features pit zips for some body core venting when needed. If you're over 6 feet or heavier than 170lbs then you probably will want the Large, since the Medium fits frames up to 6' comfortably, if average weight. The Captain color is a deep midnight navy and has become a total favorite.
